Pittsburgh man convicted in pregnant woman's death

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) — A Pittsburgh man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman and her unborn child almost two years ago.

Jurors deliberated for about nine hours before convicting Marlin Kelly, 29, on Tuesday of the murder charge, as well as conspiracy, but acquitting him of robbery, the Beaver County Times reported.

Prosecutors said Conekia Finney, 19, who was about seven months pregnant, was killed in October 2012 by two men who went to an Ambridge apartment to rob her boyfriend.

Tyrone Fuller, 33, earlier pleaded guilty to homicide in exchange for a sentence of 13 to 30 years in prison.

He said Kelly pulled the trigger, but the defendant, who faces a mandatory life term when he is sentenced Sept. 26, testified that he left the apartment but heard a gunshot when he returned and saw Fuller fleeing.
