Lane restriction

YOUNGSTOWN

West Front Street between South Phelps Street and the Mahoning County Courthouse alley downtown will be temporarily restricted to one lane only from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for a ribbon-cutting for The Lewis School for Gifted Learning Potential inside Trinity United Methodist Church on Front Street.

The school is sponsored by Youngstown Christian School.

Suspect arrested

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a 28-year-old Niles man just minutes after a payday lending business on East Midlothian Boulevard was robbed early Tuesday.

According to a report, the suspect, later identified as LeSean Edge of Royal Mall Drive, fled from Cashland with a bag of money containing a GPS tracker as police were on their way to the scene.

The armed robbery occurred shortly before 10 a.m., and police located and arrested Edge outside Enterprise Rent-A-Car on West Rayen Avenue.

Among the items found in the car Edge had been driving were the GPS tracker, a semi-automatic handgun and $6,555 in cash.

Jazz fest planned

LIBERTY

GHCC Campus Health Care Center, 196 Colonial Drive, will host its first Jazz Fest North event featuring Howard and The Five Point Band from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The band will perform for the residents of the care center, their families and the community.

There will be food and prizes available. The first 50 people at the event will receive a free T-shirt.

Meeting canceled
