Fairgoers attending the 168th Canfield Fair may want to consider downloading the fair app on their smartphones this year.

The free app developed by Farris Marketing features a GPS system, maps, entertainment and attractions.

“Parking out in the field, [fairgoers] lose their cars,” said Jeff Mamula of Farris Marketing.

“Once you park, you set it, and then you can know where you parked.”

The app was developed three years ago by Farris to help market the fair.

Last year, approximately 40,000 people downloaded the app and this year, Farris hopes for more.

The app has been refined for this year’s fair, and next year the goal is to have fairgoers be able to find where the nearest Molnar’s cinnamon roll stand is or where to grab Richardson’s fair fries.

Daily schedules are broken down for each day on the app as well as the free daily happenings.

The app’s map shows where restrooms are, medical services, vehicle services, walk-in gates shuttle stops, ATMs and information booths.

Smartphone users can also participate in voting for the best of fair contests. Using the mobile Canfield Fair website, users can login with a Facebook account and vote for their fair favorites for food, drinks and rides.

To download the app, search Canfield Fair in the app store and look for the rooster.
