White House rep on climate change to lead roundtable

YOUNGSTOWN

Paula Brooks, a member of the Bipartisan White House Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience, will host a roundtable discussion on Resilience in the Face of Climate Impacts at 4:30 p.m. today in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University. The event is open to the public.

Brooks, a Franklin County commissioner, is a native of East Liverpool. President Barack Obama appointed her to serve on the 25-member task force, charged with providing recommendations to the president on removing barriers to resilient investments, modernizing federal grant and loan programs and other duties. Moderator of the session is Martin Abraham, dean of the YSU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Other speakers also will be featured.

Applications taken for MCBDD board

Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr. of Mahoning County Probate Court is accepting applications to fill an unexpired term on the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities, which will end in January 2016.
