Salem library hosts 'Life After High School' series

Salem Public Library will host a “Life after High School” series of programs designed for high-school juniors, seniors and interested graduates.

The three-part series will help students prepare for brighter futures by explaining some of the options in education and training.

Students considering a four-year college who want to create a college application that shouts, “Hey, look at me!” can attend the program at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2, in Room 23 of the Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St.

The event will feature a panel of admissions personnel from area colleges and universities who will discuss what gets a college application noticed. This is not a typical college or university admissions event. The panel’s goal is to help students construct the strongest application possible.

Those thinking about a two-year degree or trade school may want to attend a program Sept. 9 in Room 23 of the Salem Memorial Building to learn about their options.

The library has assembled a panel of presenters from two-year degree institutions and trade schools who will be ready to talk about their programs and how students can obtain skills needed for careers throughout the job market.

The third program will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in Room 23 at the Salem Memorial Building and will feature information on options for certifications, licenses and apprenticeships.

This program will help attendees understand what types of jobs are available, how to apply and generally what to expect in terms of academics and hands-on learning.
