AUSTINTOWN 9/11 events

The Mahoning Valley 9-11 committee will commemorate the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Hopewell Township in Pennsylvania during a 6 p.m. Sept. 11 event at the Mahoning Valley memorial, 1055 S. Raccoon Road. Here is what’s planned:

Shotgun volley to begin ceremony

Playing of the national anthem

Invocation

Moment of silence

Display of FDNY fire engine that served at 9/11

Ringing of the bell

Hanging of the wreaths by the Austintown Fire and Police departments and Maria and Bob Connolly.

21-gun salute from the Youngstown Police Department honor guard
