Eagle Award
Kyle O’Brien, a son of Chris and Cindy O’Brien of Boardman, has received his Eagle Scout Award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor.
The court-of-honor ceremony took place at St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
O’Brien is a member of Troop 22, chartered to the church, and is a member of the Greater Western Reserve Council.
He started in Cub Scouts in elementary school and entered Boy Scout Troop 22 in February 2009. His former scoutmaster was Steve Baker, and his current scoutmaster is Jim Bartel.
O’Brien has served as senior patrol leader, scribe and librarian. He previously completed online training for den chief and received his certificate. He recently was voted into the Order of the Arrow. He is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He has earned 43 merit badges as well as his first Eagle Scout Palm and is working on his second.
For his Eagle Scout service project, O’Brien constructed and installed a display and informational case at the James A. Garfield National Historical Site in Mentor, Ohio.
He is a sophomore at Boardman High School.
