Staff report

BATAVIA, N.Y.

After dropping a 2-1 decision to Williamsport on Thursday, the Scrappers reversed their fortunes against the Batavia Muckdogs by the same score on Friday.

It took a late-inning rally, ignited by Yonathan Mendoza, to beat the Muckdogs.

Scrappers starting pitcher Sean Brady threw six innings of one-run baseball and was given the no decision after failing to get any run support. He lowered his ERA to 2.73 while striking out three batters and walking two.

In the top of the seventh inning, Mendoza reached on a fielders choice with two outs. He then stole second and came around to score on a line drive RBI single from Austin Fisher to tie the game at 1.

In the top of the ninth, Mendoza singled with one out in the inning. He stole second on a pitch that Fisher struck out on. With two outs, Ordomar Valdez scored Mendoza with a base hit.
