Polish fest, tourney at Saxon

Polish-American Heritage Days begin today with Poker and Pierogi, a day of gaming, at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

Polish Day, a daylong festival featuring the food, music and dance of Poland, will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Saxon Club. Admission is $5 (free with YSU identification card). For a complete schedule of entertainment, workshops and contests, go to polishyoungstown.org.

Today’s gaming event will begin at 11 a.m. with blackjack and other games of chance. A charity poker tournament with a $60 buy-in will begin at 1 p.m.

Sunday’s festivities will include a best pirogi contest at 1 p.m., and a pirogi- eating contest at 6 p.m. Also on the agenda are performances by Ethnic Jazz at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.; and Chardon Polka Band at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
