One year ago, PsyCare — a mental-health company started by three Mahoning Valley-area psychologists — opened its ninth office in one section of a three-unit strip mall here.

After one year at the 520 Youngstown-Poland Road location, the clinic has doubled its business.

“We’re usually pretty booked,” said Debra Bogniard, accounting manager for the office. “We’re almost always able to fill up all our clinicians, so there’s a huge need in the community for quality mental-health services.”

More business made the quaint office seem a little cramped, Bogniard said.

This past winter, her husband, Jeffrey Bogniard, owner and clinic director, said he wanted to expand the clinic’s physical size due to the rise in business. After acquiring the vacant TV- repair shop unit next door, the company has used the extra space to create a larger waiting room and add three clinician offices.

On Tuesday, the clinic finished the expansion. Debra Bogniard said the clinic will host a groundbreaking celebration for the new space Tuesday, with both the mayor and community members attending.

“I think the office looks brighter and more relaxed in the waiting room since it expanded,” she said. “We doubled the physical size, too, so that’s given us the opportunity to make it look more professional and soothing for people when they meet their therapist or counselor.”

PsyCare clinics offer counseling, medication- management services and case management for adults, kids and families.

Debra Bogniard said the Struthers office is the only PsyCare location to use I-FAST — Integrative Family and Systems Treatment program — which is designed to help more-complicated family cases.

The Bogniards said they could see the business growing even more in the future.
