Austintown Fitch HOF to induct its class of 2014

The Austintown Fitch Athletic Hall of Fame committee will induct its seventh class on Aug. 29-30.

This year’s inductees are: Ralph Roberts, 1959, football and track; Ken Baker, 1963, football and track; Gary Miller, 1968, football; Dan Smolak, 1972, football and track; Joe Mastro, 1973, golf; Joe Hammond (posthumously), 1974, track; Jim Calhoun, 1974, football; Dick Kenney, 1971, Athletic Director and football; Ed Kohl, 1975, baseball and football; Bethany Benyo Carlson, 1991, gymnastics; Jenn Grossi Lassonde, 1999, golf; 2002 boys bowling team; and 2003 boys bowling team.

A pregame Hall of Fame reception featuring the inductees is set for Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. outside the Fitness Center on the school campus. Following the Warren Harding-Fitch football game, the public is invited to a social scheduled at Quaker Steak and Lube.

A formal banquet is scheduled for Aug. 30 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Banquet Center. The dinner is at 6 p.m. and program at 7:15 p.m. Tickets cost $60 and may be purchased at Fitch High School or at the Board of Education office.
