Family fun day and book bag giveaway Saturday in Girard

GIRARD — An annual free “family fun day and book bag giveway” will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in Tod Park.

Relatives of a Girard woman and her two sons, who were killed in their Girard home in 2005, sponsor the event.

In 2013, about 400 book bags were given away.

The event also features games, face-painting, clowns, surprise visitors and food such as hot dogs, pop corn, cotton candy and drinks.

It is open to any family. Those needing a book bag filled with supplies should register the child’s name and get a number. The bags will be given away after 3 p.m. Those who don’t need a book bag are welcome to come for the events.
