What you need to know

A Charming Quilt Shop Tour is planned Thursday through Aug. 30 at eight quilt shops. Coordinators are Dottie Bettiker of Just Quilt It in Champion, Kori Turner-Goodhart of Olive Grace Studio in Fowler Township and Cindy Oravecz of Quilter’s Fancy in Cortland. Hours will be the same at all shops during the tour — from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is the fourth year of the event. All shops but one are in Ohio.

Cost: A tour “passport” costs $3; $2 of the money goes to support a local charity of the shop owner’s choice. Passports must be stamped at each shop. Customers who get all eight stamps will receive a gift that includes a pewter charm, fabric squares and coupons.

Prizes: The grand prize is a sewing machine valued at $799. Second prize is a special lamp, “stella,” used for sewing and third prize, scissors. There also will be gift baskets and certificates awarded. Customers must be 12 years old to be eligible for door prizes and 18 or older for the grand prize.
