Drivers needed

WARREN

Trumbull Mobile Meals, 323 E. Market St., has a crucial need for drivers to deliver meals, said Sandra Mathews, chief executive officer.

There is an urgent need for Newton Falls, Mineral Ridge and Warren route drivers, but all areas of the county can use help. Call 330-394-2538 for information.

There is a large segment of the community that is wheelchair bound, uses walkers and canes, are too ill to prepare a meal, or do not have the resources to drive to a congregate meal site or food distribution center. These are the people TMM serves, Mathews said.

“The time you donate is immeasurable and so important to others in need,” she said.

Conditions investigated

GIRARD

The Trumbull County Animal Welfare League says a dog owner who keeps her animal in a pen is not violating any laws.

A humane agent investigated the dog’s living conditions Monday on Ella Street after the agency received numerous complaints and pictures of the dog in what people described as a pen that is too small, said Kerry Pettit, the league’s executive director.

“When you look at the pen from a different angle, you see the dog has more room,” she said Tuesday.

She said the dog has food, water, shelter and is in good health.

The dog’s owner told police that she is being threatened from a Girard-oriented Facebook page.

She said she has received threats from someone who was coming over “with a baseball bat and was going to hit everyone in the head.”
