A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 13

Breaking and entering: Several vehicles in various township locations were broken into and gift cards, tools and loose change were among items taken. Also, a lawn mower was stolen from a garage.

Complaint: Police received a complaint regarding a dog barking continually at a New Castle Road residence.

Aug. 15

Burglary: To a residence in the 3100 block of Highland Drive, though police found no signs of forced entry.

Theft: Three 14-karat gold diamond rings were stolen from a home in the 6400 block of Center Road. The loss was estimated at $2,836.

Aug. 16

Burglary: A garage and several cars were entered, including on James Street and Poland Center Drive. A generator and loose change were stolen.

Aug. 17

Recovered property: Property that had been reported stolen during numerous car break-ins at various Dobbins Road locations was recovered.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 14

Auto theft: A 1998 Volkswagen Passat was stolen in the 200 block of Erskine Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed a rock through a window to an apartment in the 50 block of Lemans Drive.

Theft: Two people stole 25 undergarments, two robes and various lotions from Victoria’s Secret in Southern Park Mall.

Menacing: A Mathews Road woman reported her former boyfriend has made unwanted calls to the accuser and followed her home.

Menacing: A Lynn Mar Avenue man told officers another man threatened to kill him during a dispute related to a car title.

Theft: John A. Blazo, 52, of Leighton Avenue, Boardman, was taken into custody on a felony-theft warrant after a Poland man reported having paid $4,841 on June 24 for roof repairs to a Centervale Avenue residence. The work was not completed, and he was never fully refunded, a report showed.

Theft: A $20 blouse was removed from a vehicle in the 4500 block of Waseka Lane.

Criminal damaging: A window and four outdoor lights sustained damage at a Mathews Road church.

Recovered property: A birth certificate and other papers were found in a yard in the 100 block of Clifton Drive after having been stolen from a vehicle.

Theft: One hundred keys and $3 were missing from a car in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard.

Trespassing: Police charged Imani T. McCormick, 22, of Park Avenue, Youngstown, with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest after receiving a tip that she was at Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, 853 Boardman-Poland Road, in violation of a criminal-trespassing warning. In addition, McCormick, who also was wanted on a Girard Municipal court warrant, refused to cooperate with authorities, they said.

Voyeurism: A man waiting for his wife at a Boardman-Poland Road business told police he observed a man in his 30s in a red shirt using a cellphone to take photographs under dressing-room doors.

Aug. 15

Falsification: Police learned that the driver of a vehicle reportedly left the scene of an accident in Youngstown after a Mathews Road woman had reported the car stolen. The woman later told officers that a friend had borrowed the vehicle, a report said.

Theft: Breanna F. Haynes, 21, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, faced two theft counts after a total of $481 worth of merchandise, mainly clothing, was stolen from the J.C. Penney store and Macy’s, both in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Michele K. Vandenberg, 51, of Windsor Road, Boardman, was charged with stealing $185 worth of clothing, including a women’s top, from Macy’s.

Threats: Roger L. Pruitt Jr., 23, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, was picked up on a warrant charging him with making domestic-violence threats after his girlfriend alleged Pruitt had threatened to kill her during an argument.

Identity theft: A Heather Circle Run Drive woman told officers someone had fraudulently filed a 2013 Ohio income-tax form with her information and that of her husband, even though neither had done so because of an exemption.

Theft: A worker for a Crossroads Drive business discovered a $125 iPhone missing.

Theft: A man stole eight boxes of medication from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Theft: An employee with a McClurg Road business discovered cough syrup missing from his lunch box while at work.

Theft: Police charged Sophia L. Stefek of Ivanhoe Street, Warren, after alleging the 40-year-old Stefek had stolen a pair of jeans and $260 worth of other merchandise from Macy’s.

Theft: A 14-year-old Campbell girl was accused of taking a $20 pair of women’s shoes from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Aug. 16

Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street led to the arrest of 22-year-old Jonathan D. Negron on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Negron, of South Raccoon Road, Austintown, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.145, a report said.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue after someone forced open an unlocked window. A $180 electronic tablet device was taken.

Menacing: Police arrested 57-year-old Duane D. Niemi at his Argyle Avenue home on a warrant charging the Boardman man with menacing after a July 28 incident in which a neighbor alleged Niemi had threatened to harm her.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman church reported having gotten about one such call per day since last December.

Identity fraud: A Rockdale Avenue woman told police she suspected someone had used her personal information to apply online for a credit card.

Misuse of a credit card: An Argyle Avenue man found multiple fraudulent charges to his account that totaled about $250.

Theft: Gena M. Ritter, 31, of Sunset Drive, Warren, was charged in the theft of 27 articles of clothing and a pair of women’s sweatpants from the J.C. Penney store.

Menacing: A Glendale Avenue woman said a man has been threatening her via calls and Facebook and text messages.

Theft: A man in his 30s stole an $800 crossbow from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aug. 17

Arrest: Officers working with members of the Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force pulled over Michael J. Murray, 30, of West Western Reserve Road, Poland, on U.S. Route 224. He was charged with OVI.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Oldies and Goodies Diner, 1035 Boardman-Poland Road, and stole all the kitchen appliances. The theft was estimated at $93,400.

Assault: A Lemans Drive man and his roommate each reported having been assaulted by the other in an altercation apparently related to rent money.

Theft: A woman noticed $10 missing from her purse while at a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store.

Theft: Authorities took custody of 27-year-old David J. Zadai of Summit Avenue, Niles, who was accused of stealing a portable air-conditioning unit and a toolkit during a July 26 shoplifting situation at Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive.

Aug. 18

Criminal mischief: Three township boys, 15, 16 and 17, faced criminal-mischief charges after police received a report that someone had tossed eggs at a residence and a mailbox in the 400 block of Rockland Avenue. The teens also were cited after being accused of violating curfew.
