Illegal West African woman arrested in red-tagged Youngstown house

YOUNGSTOWN — An undocumented alien from Sierra Leone is charged with criminal trespass after police and a housing code enforcement officer found her in a red-tagged, foreclosed house at 249 Curry Place, which had no utilities.

When they responded Monday to a report of a possible squatter in the unsecured house, police apprehended Gloria Khoury, 38, who was lying on the living room couch.

Khoury told officers she had lived in the West African nation before coming to the United States in 2005; and that she received a Social Security number when she applied for a green card to legally live in this country.

Because Khoury did not receive that card, the code officer called an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, who said ICE would issue the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office an order to detain Khoury in the county jail pending further ICE investigation.
