Diocese awards grant

YOUNGSTOWN

The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio awarded a $13,000 grant to Protestant Family Service for its Aid to the Elderly in Crisis program.

The grant will be used to assist those 60 and older with emergencies from this September through December 2015. PFS guidelines will be used to access and evaluate each case. Clients must provide eligibility proof.

Clients who have received monetary aid from a previous Elderly in Crisis grant are not eligible.

The program begins Sept. 2. Educational classes on utility conservation, budgeting, interviewing skills and practice, skills mapping, self-esteem and resume writing will be offered. Call PFS at 330-746-4600 to make an appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Mathews Band Night

VIENNA

Mathews Music Boosters and the Mathews Marching Mustangs will have its 19th annual Mathews Band Night at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Booster Field at the end of Sheridan Drive off state Route 193. Tickets are $5, $3.50 for senior citizens and free for children under age 6.

Church plans events

WARREN

Agape Assembly Church, 426 Nevada Ave. SW, will have its fourth annual Invasion of Hope Outreach Festival and 2nd Annual Back To School Sunday next weekend.

The festival will be from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and will feature free food, games, bounce houses, live music and inspirational messages for youth and adults.

The back-to-school event will take place Sunday and feature Steve Chiaro, new Warren City Schools superintendent, as well as other school officials.

Students, parents and school officials are invited to join for worship and prayer in preparation for the new school year. School supplies are being accepted.
