Cops: Man almost three times over legal limit for DUI

YOUNGSTOWN
A man arrested for drunken driving Saturday afternoon had a blood-alcohol content more than three times the legal limit, police reports said.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Roxbury Avenue on the South Side about 2:35 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man passed out in a car. When they got there, neighbors told police the man in the car had driven through someone’s lawn.
Officers went to the vehicle where they found 54-year-old Michael Fountain of Roxbury asleep in the driver’s seat with the motor still running. Reports said it took officers several attempts to wake him up, and he smelled of alcohol.
Police asked Fountain if he had been drinking, and he told them he had two beers the night before, reports said.
He refused to take a field-sobriety test, so officers took him to the police station for a breath test, reports said. During the ride, he drifted in and out of sleep and at one point told the officer transporting him, “I can’t deliver pizza in handcuffs,” reports said.
When he was administered the breath test more than an hour after police were first called, he registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.298, reports said. The legal intoxication limit in Ohio is 0.08.
Fountain was given a citation for driving while under the influence and released, reports said.
