Animal Welfare League: No sign of dog abuse in Girard

GIRARD — The Trumbull County Animal Welfare League says a dog owner here who keeps her animal in a pen is not violating any laws.

A humane agent investigated the dog’s living conditions Monday on Ella Street after the agency received numerous complaints and pictures of the dog in what people described as a pen that is too small, said Kerry Pettit, the league’s executive director.

“When you look at the pen from a different angle, you see the dog has more room,” she said today.

She said the dog has food, water, shelter and is in good health.

The dog’s owner told police that she is being threatened from a Girard-oriented Facebook page. She said she has received threats from someone who was coming over “with a baseball bat and was going to hit everyone in the head.”
