Trial begins for man charged in daughter's death

YOUNGSTOWN — Trial began in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today for a 23-year-old Woodside Avenue man on trial for the death of his 4-month-old daughter on May 13, 2013.

Evan Lee chose to have a bench trial before Judge John Durkin rather than have a jury hear his case.

He is accused of murder, two counts of child endangering and felonious assault for the death of IIa Lee in their 928 Woodside Ave. home.

The cause of the baby’s death was not immediately known until an autopsy by the Summit County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, saying that she died from a blow to the head.
