At least one killed amid intense gunfire on South Side near Glenwood tonight

One person died in a 6 p.m. confrontation among two groups of young men on Winona Street on the South Side Sunday night.
Detectives were not available to provide more details, but neighbors said the confrontation involved two groups that approached each other on Winona a short distance west of Glenwood Avenue.
There were words exchanged, and then numerous rounds of gunfire, the witness said.
The gunfire sent dozens of young men running in both directions. The woman said she and her cousin ducked behind a tree to avoid being hit. The victim was riding a bicycle, she said.
