Poland police probe auto theft

POLAND — Village police are investigating a reported theft in which a car ended up abandoned in the Poland Municipal Forest, according to a police report.

A white 2013 Honda Pilot was discovered at the bottom of a hill leading down to Yellow Creek, about a quarter mile into the woods from the Poland Manor entrance.

The car was running, in gear and locked. No one was inside the vehicle, and there were no footprints or blood at the scene.

Village Police Chief Russell Beatty said the vehicle was stolen from the owner, but that there are no suspects at this time. The theft would carry a felony charge.
