Naked, stoned and looking for Jesus, he found police instead

AUSTINTOWN — A naked man told police he was high on acid and wanted to see Jesus in heaven after entering an apartment in the township early Thursday.

Alex Kotch, 21, of Georgetown Place, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor public indecency and resisting arrest and felony assault of a police officer and burglary.

According to a police report on the matter, Kotch allegedly was naked and entered an apartment of the 4500 block of Deer Creek Court at about 6:39 a.m. Thursday after knocking on a bedroom door. The occupant of the apartment said Kotch told him that he was in heaven and on acid, the report said.

When Kotch wouldn’t leave the apartment, the occupant left and called the authorities. The resident also told police he had never seen Kotch before and didn’t know who he was.

A woman told police she had seen a naked man walking along Kirk Road about 10 minutes before he got to the apartments. Officers attempted to get Kotch to put on a pair of sweatpants after finding him laying in the bed and talking about how he wanted to go to heaven and be with Jesus.

He began putting on the sweatpants, but took them off saying that he wanted to go to heaven to see Jesus. Officers then tried to remove Kotch from the bed when he became combative, punching an officer in the face. At that point, officers put Kotch in handcuffs and took him out of the apartment’s bedroom. After he began kicking, authorities put a Hobble Strap around his feet, a device used so people in handcuffs cannot run from police.

While continuing to talk about heaven and Jesus, Kotch urinated on the dining room floor, according to the report.

Lane’s Ambulance transported Kotch to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and an officer had an injury to his right pinky finger that was treated.

At the hospital, Kotch was aggressive again until he was sedated. He was released from the hospital Thursday night.

Online court records showed a warrant was issued for his arrest today and Kotch was being processed at Austintown Police Department before 11 a.m. today. He is expected to be in Mahoning County Area Court in the township on Monday.
