Mahoning County residents should beware of jury-duty scam
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County residents should beware of a jury-duty scam.
Boardman Township police are investigating a case of someone impersonating a police officer.
A woman reported Thursday that a man called her and claimed to be an officer with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office.
He told her she missed jury duty and needed to pay a fine of $495 or she would be arrested on a warrant. He gave her a warrant number and advised her to get a money order from Rite Aid.
The department issued an advisory that the county has been receiving multiple calls about the scam.
