Saliva thrill ride stops at Conneaut
By John Benson
The fact that Saliva is playing at Conneaut Lake Park shouldn’t come as a surprise. Just last year the hard-rock act played a memorable show at Biketown Harley-Davidson in Austintown.
So what is it about Saliva playing unique venues when it comes to this neck of the woods?
“I remember that Harley show,” said Bobby Amaru, appropriately calling from Sturgis, S.D. “It was fun. I just thought the place was really cool. Ohio is usually really good for us. They support this band and the music.”
When it’s pointed out the band’s Friday show is at Hotel Conneaut, which is located in Conneaut Lake Park, Amaru got excited regarding the rides.
“I love roller coasters,” Amaru said.
If you think about it, being in a rock band these days is similar to a thrill ride — lots of ups, some downs and plenty of unexpected fun. For instance, Amaru joined Saliva, known for Grammy Award-nominated song “Your Disease,” as well as popular radio tracks “Click Click Boom,” “Always,” “Rest in Pieces” and “Ladies and Gentleman,” after its original singer Josey Scott left the act in 2011.
In the spirit of Conneaut Lake Park, Amaru was asked to describe Saliva as an amusement-park ride.
“We would be a rollercoaster,” Amaru said. “We’re always doing something new and different, trying to keep it new and fresh and not getting stale.”
