Niles Food Forest plans cleanup day
NILES
The Youngstown Inner City Garden has expanded from its Youngstown location and will build a similar “food forest” in the city of Niles.
The food forests are built solely for the purpose of helping others.
Organizers focus on education, training and providing a safe place for local residents to enjoy gardening.
All the produce grown at the gardens is given away.
The organizers of the Niles Food Forest will have a cleanup day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the planned site of the Niles garden, 1625 Hiram St.
Participants are urged to bring rakes, weed trimmers, wheelbarrows and any other garden tools they have available.
