YSU commencement Saturday to add more graduates to record year
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
If commencements at Youngstown State University this past academic year looked a little crowded, they were.
YSU awarded 2,147 degrees in the 2013-14 academic year — the most since the 1985 to 1986 school year.
YSU celebrates summer commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday in Beeghly Center when another 392 candidates for degrees will participate: three doctoral, 118 masters, 238 bachelors and 33 associate degrees.
Jack Fahey, vice president for student affairs, said the high number of graduates is a reflection of increasing enrollments at the university in the first decade of the 2000s. But he pointed to two other factors.
