Mayor McNally on list for jury duty
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown Mayor John A. McNally is on the list for jury duty in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court between Sept. 8 and Sept. 19.
McNally said this week that he hadn’t seen or heard anything about being called for jury duty.
“If they mail something to my house, I’ll come,” he said.
Despite McNally’s background as an attorney and a former staff member in the city’s law department, it appears there is nothing under Ohio law that would prevent him from serving on a jury.

The victim told the police he was walking on Pyatt toward Market Street when two men approached him, one holding a revolver, and threatened him. After the man gave the two his $40, he was hit in the face with a gun, reports said.
The man was bleeding from his nose, and his shirt was covered with blood but he refused medical treatment, reports said.
Homeless man held on drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN
A homeless man was arrested Monday afternoon after police found several needles and empty heroin packages belonging to him.
Officers on patrol around Kensington and Halleck avenues noticed a truck that made an illegal turn and pulled it over in the 100 block of Halleck, reports said, an area that has a high frequency of drug activity.
Police approached the truck and found a pouch inside that contained several used needles and about five empty bags that had suspected heroin residue inside.
The driver told police the pouch belonged to Gerald Kay, 39, and that he had driven Kay to the area to buy heroin.
Police found Kay a short distance away, and he had a dose of suspected heroin on him when he was searched. He was taken to Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of drugs/heroin and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.
