Mahoning engineer seeks clarification of auditor's finding
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti said this afternoon he wants Ohio Auditor Dave Yost to clarify the findings of his performance audit of the county engineer’s office.
For example, Ginnetti said he wants projections on costs of computer technology investments the audit recommends and estimates of annual cost savings to be achieved through use of that technology.
Suggestions in the audit concerning savings that could be achieved through concessions by Teamsters Local 377, which represents 51 members of the engineer’s staff, or by abolition of two nonunion jobs, are stating the obvious, Ginnetti said.
Ginnetti said he agrees with the recommendations in the audit report released Tuesday, which call for an overall strategic plan, a vehicle and equipment replacement plan and a road repaving plan.
“I just don’t feel we got what we paid for,” in the audit, for which the county paid about $100,000, Ginnetti said.
