Girard repairs sinkholes

GIRARD

The city is fixing a large sinkhole on Mosier Road near Liberty Park today and will also have to fix one that has opened on Randolph Street, said Mayor Jim Melfi.

Sinkholes that opened on Park Avenue and Kline Street are fixed, he said.

The holes, which are caused by collapsing storm water pipes, are only a few feet wide on the surface, but much bigger underneath, Melfi said.

The one that opened on Kline Street Aug. 6 flooded a woman's car.
