Youngstown has lowest metro gas prices

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown has the lowest average gas price out of eight metropolitan areas in Ohio, according to an AAA fuel-gauge report.

The cost Monday for a gallon of unleaded regular gas on average in Youngstown was $3.425, according to the report. This average is the same average the area had last year. Youngstown also was behind the state’s average of $3.503 Monday. The nation’s average was at $3.478, however.

A number of factors can be the cause of the lower gas prices in Youngstown, including competition among retailers and supply and demand, an AAA spokesman said.

Other metro areas on the list include Toledo with an average of $3.499 and Cincinnati with the average price listed at $3.479.

There were several gas stations listed on AAA’s website with lower prices than the Youngstown average. Speed Check, 1904 Oak St. in Youngstown, had a listed price of $3.279 Monday. Outside of Youngstown, in Girard, Mr. Fuel, 2840 Salt Springs Road, had a listed price of $3.299, and in Struthers, Morgan Oil, 127 Lowellville Road, also had a listed price of $3.299.
