A 53-year-old Main Avenue Southwest woman pleaded not guilty Monday in Warren Municipal Court to felonious assault, accused of injuring her 51-year-old boyfriend at Packard Park by driving her car at him and running over his head.

When officers arrived at the park about 7:30 p.m. Friday, they found the man conscious but complaining of injuries to his head, wrist, hip and both ankles.

He said he and April A. Walker came to the park together and argued. She then tried to leave in her car, but the victim followed her, so she “gunned” the engine while driving at him, “pushing” him into the hood.

She drove fast through the park, and the victim fell off. Then the car’s tire ran over his head, he said. He was unconscious, but a witness woke him.

That witness and another man verified the story the victim told and said the man and woman had been drinking alcoholic beverages before the incident. The victim was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Police arrested Walker later at the Christy House, a homeless shelter at 919 Main Ave. SW. Her car, which was parked there, had a cracked windshield. She failed a field sobriety test, but a blood test was administered at the hospital to determine her blood-alcohol level.
