Warren schools plan Monday Courthouse Square celebration

Warren City Schools will celebrate the return of the school year from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday on Courthouse Square.

This is the second year for the event, which features free hot dogs, chips and refreshments, prizes for the kids, a performance by the Warren G. Harding High School band and other events.

It is open to parents and students. Last year’s event attracted 1,200 people.

Four days later, on Aug. 21, the school district will have a pre-kindergarten to Grade 8 family open house at each building. It will be at 4 p.m. for pre-kindergarten to grade 2, 5 p.m. for grades 3 to 5 and 6 p.m. for grades 6 to 8.

Tours of the school will be provided, and children and their parents can visit the child’s classroom and meet the child’s teacher and building administrators.
