Vice raids net guns, drugs

YOUNGSTOWN

Members of the police department’s vice squad serving search warrants investigating drug activity Monday seized drugs, guns and cash and arrested three people in two separate raids.

At a 175 Roslyn Ave. home where officers served a warrant about 6:10 p.m., officers found a digital scale, two bags of heroin, a bag of crack cocaine, two suboxone strips, and $356 in cash.

Taken into custody was 23-year-old Jerry Franklin of East Myrtle Avenue on charges of possession of drugs, possession of drugs/crack cocaine, possession of drugs/heroin and illegal use of drug paraphernalia; and Dajuan Dukes, 35, who lists the home as his address, was taken into custody on the same charges as well as an additional charge of tampering with evidence.

Earlier, about 4:55 p.m., police served a warrant at an Arkwright Avenue home and found loose heroin, two bags of heroin, two digital scales, a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, a .12-gauge shotgun with a sawed off barrel that was loaded with four rounds and a .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol.

Police arrested Anthony Venneri, 48, of Youngstown, on charges of possession of heroin, illegal use of drug paraphernalia and possession of unlawful ordnance because of the shortened barrel on the shotgun.

All three were taken to the Mahoning County jail.
