Self-defense class will be at YWCA

YOUNGSTOWN

A self-defense class for families will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave. It is free and open to the public. There will be refreshments and door prizes. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

After the self-defense class will be a Discovery Place open house, also at the YWCA. Applications are being accepted for fall enrollment. Discovery Place, a licensed center, provides care for infants and toddlers from 6-weeks to 21/2 years old. It is staffed with certified and degreed teachers and has a low staff/child ratio. A year-round preschool also is available for ages 21/2 to 5 years.
