UPDATE: CCA prison on Youngstown's East Side on lockdown status

YOUNGSTOWN — The Northeast Ohio Correctional Center, 2240 Hubbard Road, is on lockdown status after a group of inmates in the prison's recreation yard refused orders to return to their cells.

Candace Rivera, public information officer for the CCA prison, said in a statement shortly past 6 p.m. today that all staff and inmates are accounted for and facility management is communicating with inmates "to resolve the matter peacefully."

The statement says there have been no incidents of violence, the facility is secured, and "the community is not in danger."
