Scholarship raffle

The Austintown Alumni Association is selling tickets for its annual raffle to raise funds for scholarships to Austintown Fitch 2015 graduates. First prize is $500, second prize is a basket of gift cards from local businesses worth at least $200, and third prize is a $50 dinner for two at Rachel’s Restaurant and flowers from Something Unique Florist.

Tickets are $1 each or $5 for a book of six tickets. The winning tickets will be drawn Aug. 29 at the Hall of Fame football game.

Winners need not be present.

Family clothing

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has gently used and new clothing for the entire family each Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

August will feature a summer clearance with 50 percent off adult summer clothes and 25 percent off children’s summer clothes.

Ham dinner

Columbiana First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St., Columbiana, will have a drive-through ham dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. today. The meal includes red-skin parsley potatoes, green beans, applesauce and a brownie.

A $7 donation is requested.

Duck race

The Struthers Rotary Club will have its annual Duck Race on Saturday at Yellow Creek Park.

Each duck will be numbered with the first 13 winning cash prizes. The first duck to cross the finish line will bring home a prize of $500. The second will win $200, and the third, $100. Each of the next 10 ducks will win $20.

There also will be a 50-50 raffle. The race starts at 11 a.m.

To purchase a duck ticket for $5, contact any member of the Struthers Rotary. Tickets also may be purchased the day of the race.

Proceeds from this event support community projects of the Struthers Rotary.

Charity event

In preparation for its annual 5K Run/2 Mile Walk, the Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center, led by Dr. Ted Suzelis, N.D., is seeking Mahoning Valley residents to support their efforts to benefit area autism organizations.

The Charity 5K Run/ 2 Mile Walk will take place at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mill Creek MetroParks Bikeway-Kirk Road Trailhead at 6700 Kirk Road, Canfield.

Help is needed in advance for assembling T-shirts/bags, organizing registrants, preregistration pickup, refreshments, 50-50 raffle, traffic/parking, and trail water stations. Various shifts are available.

Every volunteer gets a free T-shirt. Volunteers should email robin@ suzelis.com or call the Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center at 330-729-1350.
