Kasich to give keynote address at Tressel installation

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio Gov. John Kasich will give the keynote address at the installation ceremony for Youngstown State University President James P. Tressel at 2 p.m. next Monday in Beeghly Center on the YSU campus.

The governor is among several state government and higher-education leaders expected to attend the ceremony at which Tressel will be installed as YSU’s ninth president in the university’s 104-year history.

The ceremony is open to the public. Free parking will be available on campus. A reception will follow immediately. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.horizonleague.org/live/11613.

Liberty band night

Liberty

Liberty High School Band Night will take place at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the high school stadium, 1 Leopard Way. Mathews, Southington, LaBrae, Harding, Howland and Hubbard bands will perform, with a closing performance by the Liberty band.

Tickets are available at the gate; cost is $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, and free for children under 5.

Family Fun Day

AUSTINTOWN

Second Chance Ministry will offer a Family Fun Day starting at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

Food and games will be available, and sprinklers, playgrounds and hiking trails at the park will be available for use. Revelation Road will perform two free concerts, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.

Train club event

WARREN

The Riverside Railroad Train Club, Mahoning Valley’s only public large-scale Garden Railroad Club, will host a summer open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Warren S.C.O.P.E. Center, 220 W. Market St. (at the bridge).

Donations are $3, and children under 12 get in for free.
