‘Unholy Murder’ probed in new book
ERIE, pa.
On January 3, 1983, The execution-style, gangland murder of Northwestern Pennsylvania’s most-notorious bookie, Frank Dovishaw, set off a series of events for Erie’s top homicide investigator spanning seven years.
“The Unholy Murder of Ash Wednesday” is the inside and long-untold tale of a cop who refused to quit despite death threats and bribery attempts, instead following his instinct, gut and personal code of justice.
The book is written by author Dominick D. DiPaolo, as told to author Jeff Pinski.
DiPaolo served as an Erie police officer for a quarter century, much of that as Erie’s leading homicide investigator. He and his wife, Janet, live in Erie.
Pinski was an award-winning journalist for four decades at Erie’s Times Publishing Co. He and his wife, Doris, live in Fairview Township.
The book is available at local and national bookstores and traditional online outlets. “The Unholy Murder of Ash Wednesday” is also offered at www.mmweriepa.com (Mobsters, Murderers and Wannabes, Erie, Pa.).
