Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course is raising awareness of problem gaming issues after marking National Responsible Gaming Education Week during the first week in August.
The gaming and racing facility — scheduled to open in Sept. 17 — joined with the Ohio Lottery Commission, its sister casino property in Toledo and Austintown Township trustees in alerting potential patrons to the warning signs of problem gaming and training its staff to spot those signs and offer resources to anyone who may feel they have a gaming addiction.
TrueCar: August is the best month to buy new vehicle

TrueCar reports that August is the best month to purchase a new car. New car and truck prices during the past five years in August averaged $29,296 — $169 lower than any other month.
The belief was December was prime time for new car and truck buyers, but TrueCar data reveals that prices in December average $31,146 — the most-expensive month for new cars and $1,850 higher than August.
‘Strictly Business’ networking mixer

The Business Journal, Mahoning Valley Young Professionals and Tippecanoe Country Club are the co-sponsors of the second “Strictly Business” networking mixer of the season Thursday at the country club, 5860 Tippecanoe Road.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet new clients and learn how networking can help a business.
The mixer begins at 5 p.m. and will feature a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Admission is $15. Promotional tables are available at $100 each. Each person receives a business kit with marketing material from those in attendance.

Gershen to speak at chamber breakfast

The Youngstown/ Warren Regional Chamber announced that Dr. Jay Gershen, president of Northeastern Ohio Medical University, will be the featured speaker for its Salute to Business breakfast Aug. 28 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.
The event is sponsored by PNC, with the additional support of speaker sponsor by the Western Reserve Building & Construction Trades Council. The cost of the event, which is open to the public, is $25 for chamber members and $35 for nonmembers.
