Historical society is featuring new exhibit


NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

The Lawrence County Historical Society is featuring a new exhibit, “When Forges Roared,” which is on display in the Greer-Clavelli Mansion until Oct. 11.

The exhibit includes the history of Lawrence County’s old stone forges, an original piece of pig iron and slag from a forge.

The exhibit contains record books from Raney & Berger Iron Co. from 1899.

Those attending will learn about the many forges and foundries located in the city over the last century.

They also will see the Wall of Workers and meet some of the men and women who were part of the metal industry in Lawrence County.

Admission is $5 during regular business hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Groups are welcome.
