The Carousel Center will be donating school supplies to local children from 10 to 11 a.m. (or until gone) Friday at the center, 80 Westchester Drive. Center officials said they are providing the donations to show support for the community that has supported them.

Space is available at the Child Development Center at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, which provides care and education for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. The CDC uses the Creative Curriculum. It includes goals and objectives individualized to meet children’s learning needs in all areas of development: social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive. These goals and objectives are aligned to Ohio’s Birth through K Early Learning Content Standards. Library fundraiser

A fundraising ice-cream social will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tri Lakes public library branch, 13820 Mahoning Ave., to mark the first anniversary of the branch, which opened July 22, 2013, and was dedicated last Aug. 13. Admission will be $5 for adults, $1 for children. The event will feature Captain McFinn and the local band “Hey Kid!” The event will raise money for the branch’s capital- improvement fund.
Road closing
CLARK, PA.
State Route 18 on the causeway over the Shenango River Reservoir in Mercer County is scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday for construction, with the series of nighttime detours set to end at 6 a.m. Friday. The detour will be over Routes 18, 518 and 846 and Rutledge Road, PennDOT said. The closing is required to enable erection of new bridge girders. Work may be rescheduled if weather conditions warrant.
