Card fraud probed

Police are investigating a case of misuse of a credit card at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, reported Thursday.
According to a police report, a store employee said she had been advised by Walmart staff in Warren that two men had been purchasing Walmart gift cards with stolen credit cards all along the East Coast.
The employee reported she found video surveillance from Tuesday of two men matching the description, and that they had purchased a gift card for $650.
Stolen electronics

A resident reported electronic devices were stolen after a break-in at a Lynhaven Road home.
According to a police report, the resident said a flat-screen TV and an Xbox gaming system with controllers were taken sometime between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. The incident was reported to township police late Thursday morning. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
Drug charges

Police arrested a woman on drug charges and a warrant downtown Thursday afternoon.
Reports said an officer noticed a group of people standing behind a building at 131 W. Commerce St. just before 4 p.m. where there has been reports of people drinking and taking drugs. Tanisha Comer-Zeigler, 25, of Youngstown, had a suspected marijuana cigar at her feet and a bag of suspected marijuana in her pockets. She was charged with possession of marijuana as well as a warrant for failure to appear from municipal court for a charge of disorderly conduct.

Brandon Thomas, 24, of Youngstown appeared for arraignment in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman on Thursday after his arrest Wednesday on charges of drug trafficking, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thomas pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He could not enter pleas for the other two charges because they are felonies.
Thomas is set to appear in court again Sept. 16 for a pretrial hearing for the misdemeanor charge and for preliminary hearings for the felony charges.

Someone spray-painted items at a baseball field earlier this week.
College Park Baseball Field, 5706 Vassar Ave., belongs to the Austintown Colts and was damaged sometime between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A concession stand door, picnic table, sidewalk, trash bin and the back of the entrance signs were sprayed with green paint, according to a police report.

Molnar Farms in Poland will have an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Vendors will be at the event, and hayride tours will be available along with other activities. Molnar Farms is at 3115 E. Western Reserve Road in Poland.
Road closing
YOUNGSTOWN
The Ohio Department of Transportation reminds motorists that U.S. Route 422 westbound at Oak Street on the East Side will be closed between 4 and 8 a.m. today for bridge repairs.
Route 422 eastbound to U.S. Route 62 northbound is closed. The detour is Route 422 to Oak Street to Albert Street. The project is to be completed by late September.
