YOUNGSTOWN

Police cited a man with obstructing justice who tried to walk away from a traffic stop about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday on the South Side.

Reports said an officer tried to pull over a car driven by 20-year-old Chad Richardson of Youngstown because he was driving with a suspended license. He pulled into a drive at a home in the first block of East Warren Avenue and walked away from his car despite an officer telling him to stop.

Reports said Richardson also refused to lay on the ground for the officer but did get on his knees. He got on the ground when a man came out of a nearby home and told him to comply. Richardson also was cited for driving under suspension.

Facing charges

CAMPBELL

Police arrested a 37-year-old Whipple Avenue man on a host of charges — including carrying a concealed weapon — during a traffic stop late Tuesday.

Norman A. Jones is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. today in Campbell Municipal Court. Jones also is charged with illegal possession of a weapon, a felony; having an open container; possession of drugs; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police stopped the car in which Jones was a passenger for failing to stop at the intersection of 16th Street and Whipple. Jones immediately put his hands in the air and said, “It’s all mine,” according to a police report.

A search of the car produced a loaded .40-caliber handgun, a bag containing suspected marijuana and an open bottle of beer. Jones also has an active warrant out of Ashtabula County, police said.
