August charity event to benefit local Autism organizations
The Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center, led by Dr. Ted Suzelis, N.D. is teaming up with Mahoning Valley businesses to sponsor their second Charity 5K Run/2 Mile Walk Aug. 16 to benefit The Autism Society, Mahoning Valley and SAFE (Supported and Facilitated Environments).
“This is our second charity event with a 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk and this year’s proceeds will benefit The Autism Society and S.A.F.E. and all of the wonderful programs they provide,” said Suzelis, owner of Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center. “We need the help of everyone in the Valley that is capable of running or walking to participate in order to make this event a success.”
The event will take place at the Mill Creek Metroparks Bikeway - Kirk Road Trailhead at 6700 Kirk Road, in Canfield, and registration starts at 7:30 a.m. The first event starts at 8:45 a.m.
The event will include a 5K run, 2 mile walk and a kid’s fun run. Participants can register for the events at OhioND.com/5K. Prizes will be awarded in all runner categories in the 5K event and there will be a 50/50 raffle. This year’s event proceeds will go toward helping Mahoning Valley autism charities with their mission of helping autistic children and teens and their families through The Autism Society, Mahoning Valley.
“The Autism Society of Ohio is thrilled to be selected as a beneficiary of the Ohio Naturopathic race this year. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for families living with an autism diagnosis so support from events like this one are criticial to continuing to improve and grow our programs. In particular, we are are looking forward to using these funds to expand our monthly social programs for young adults,” said Aundr a Cika, Director, Mahoning Valley Office.
Event sponsors include Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center, Reflexology with Karen Ann, Healthy Treasures Health Food Store, Melissa Mullane Padgett, DDS, New Hope Imaging, Art Consumed, Humtown Products, The Vindicator and Ultima Replenisher.
“We are so excited to be included in this event. Not only does the race raise awareness for 1 and 68 children living on the spectrum but the funds lower the price of social inclusion programming such as Mahoning Valley Circle of Friends,” said Jennifer Gonda, MSEd, BCBA, Director of Supported and Facilitated Environments.
