Kasich adds $2M to his campaign war chest

Republican Gov. John Kasich’s campaign put more than $2 million in additional contributions into its war chest over the past two months, again outpacing his Democratic challenger’s fundraising.
In June and July, more than 100 contributors chipped in $10,000 or more to the governor’s re-election efforts. The campaign’s July cover sheet noted a balance on hand of more than $11.4 million.
Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, meanwhile, reported contributions of more than $533,000, including $40,000 added by the Ohio Democratic Party on Tuesday.
His campaign reported a balance on hand of about $2.4 million.
The totals were disclosed in campaign-finance reports filed Tuesday with the secretary of state.
Additional monthly reports of statewide candidates’ contribution totals are due in early September and October. Full disclosures of contributions and spending are due in late October.
Among other statewide races:
Secretary of State: Republican incumbent Jon Husted reported about $330,000 in contributions and a balance on hand of more than $3 million.
His challenger, Democratic state Sen. Nina Turner, reported nearly $252,000 in contributions and a balance on hand of more than $740,000.
Attorney General: Republican incumbent Mike DeWine reported contributions of about $301,000 and a balance on hand of more than $3 million.
His challenger, Democrat David Pepper, reported more than $356,000 in contributions, including $30,000 from the Ohio Democratic Party, and a balance on hand of nearly $1.8 million.
Auditor: Republican incumbent Dave Yost reported a little more than $169,000 in contributions for the reporting period, with a balance on hand of nearly $1.3 million.
His challenger, Democratic state Rep. John Carney, reported about $206,000 in contributions and a balance on hand of about $943,000.
Treasurer: Republican incumbent Josh Mandel reported contributions of about $439,000 and a balance on hand of $3.4 million.
His challenger, Democratic state Rep. Connie Pillich, reported nearly $508,000 in contributions, including $100,000 added Tuesday by the Ohio Democratic Party, and a balance on hand of a little more than $2 million.
