Warren police treat man's death as possible homicide
WARREN
Police are treating the death of Mitchell Pruitt, 50, of 1570 Deerfield Street Southwest as a possible homicide.
Police were not releasing his name until they had positively identified the man they found dead at Pruitt’s house. They indicated they were certain of his identity at a little before 1 p.m. today.
Police were called to Pruitt’s home at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday by Pruitt’s girlfriend, who said she was walking to Pruitt’s house to visit when she heard three gunshots. She found him unresponsive in the kitchen when she got there.
Police entered the home, found Pruitt and then checked but found no one else inside.
Capt. Robert Massucci of the Warren Police Department would not discuss whether Pruitt had gunshot wounds, and he said he had no other information to release.
If Pruitt’s death is ruled a homicide, it would be the fourth one in the city in 2014.
