UPDATE | Power outage affects 2,600 South Side homes, businesses


YOUNGSTOWN — FirstEnergy crews continue grappling with a power outages on South Avenue that disrupted service for 2,600 homes and businesses.

The outage runs from the intersection with Front Street to Midlothian Boulevard. Power was restored for a while, but went back out again.

David Turner, area manager of Mahoning County, said there are six separate outages all centered on a substation on South Avenue. A broken pole caused the outage.

The outage is also affecting traffic signals in the area of South Avenue and Market Street corridors. The police department is asking motorists to travel with caution in the area.
