Ohio Dem gubernatorial candidate lacked driver's license

CLEVELAND (AP) — Ohio records show that Ed FitzGerald, the Democratic candidate for governor and Cuyahoga County executive, did not have a driver’s license between 2008 and 2012 and lacked a temporary permit for more than a year during that time.

It’s unclear why the 46-year-old FitzGerald — a former FBI agent, assistant county prosecutor and suburban mayor — went so long without a license or why he failed to have a temporary permit between March 20, 2009, and October 10, 2010.

A campaign spokeswoman declined to comment today.

FitzGerald’s driving record has drawn scrutiny because of a 2012 incident in which police found him in his car with a woman at 4:30 a.m. at an industrial park in a Cleveland suburb.

The Columbus Dispatch first reported Monday that FitzGerald lacked a full license.
