Drug-possession case

WARREN

Paul E. Pollis, 48, of Oak Knoll Ave. Southeast and Trentwood Drive Southeast, was released from the Trumbull County jail on $3,500 bond after a not-guilty plea was entered for him Monday to felony drug possession.

Police arrested Pollis at 7:40 p.m. Friday on Vermont Avenue Northwest after a Warren police officer observed him leaving a known drug house and discovering that the truck’s license plates were expired. In preparation for the truck being towed, the officer checked inside and found two suspected rocks of crack cocaine in the driver’s door map pocket.

Pollis was sentenced to prison in 2007 and 2009 for violating his probation stemming from a conviction for showing up at the Howland police chief’s home in 2005, asking the chief a question and then being found in possession of a firearm in the car.

Mom pleads not guilty

WARREN

Samie J. Bortz, 31, of Sussex Street Southeast, was released from the Trumbull County jail Monday after posting $3,000 bond and pleading not guilty to two misdemeanor child-endangering charges.

She was arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court on allegations that she left her 2-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son alone Sunday morning. The boy called 911 at 10:03 a.m., causing an officer to respond to the house, where he found the two children alone but in good condition.

Bortz arrived at the house about 30 minutes later, saying she’d gone to Austintown but her 16-year-old daughter was supposed to be babysitting. Bortz was unwilling to provide information about the 16-year-old so police could corroborate her claims.

The judge ordered Bortz to have no contact with her children unless Trumbull County Children Services approves.
